A man is seeking compensation from an NHS trust after his wife died due to a series of hospital blunders.
Claire Joel, 28, was admitted to Medway Maritime Hospital in October last year so that she could give birth to her daughter, Kent News reports.
However, she experienced difficulties and staff did not react quickly enough, failing to administer antibiotics and delaying her emergency Cesarean. Ms Joel died from an infection five days after giving birth to her child.
The coroner’s statement said: "[There were] gross failures to provide the basic treatment and care that her medical condition required and she died from natural causes contributed to by neglect."
Her husband Mark said he is to pursue a compensation claim against Medway NHS Trust.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that patient Toni Dinan is seeking compensation from Scarborough and North East Yorkshire Healthcare NHS Trust, alleging that failures in her care led to her baby being stillborn.

The widow of a man who died after suffering a fall in a Tesco car park has been offered £8,000 in compensation.
David Wright, 51, tripped over a metal strip near a trolley bay at Tesco in Longton last year, the Staffordshire Sentinel reports.
He was admitted to hospital for surgery, but had a heart attack and never recovered.
His widow Kay took legal action against Tesco after a coroner ruled that her husband would have lived longer had it not been for the fall.
Ms Wright claims that the trolley strip is a trip hazard and wants Tesco to fix it before the same thing happens to anyone else.
The supermarket has offered £8,000 in compensation to Ms Wright, but she is campaigning for more. Tesco declined to comment.
Anyone who is injured in a supermarket should make sure the accident is known about by the manager at the time. If possible, they should take photos of the area in order to facilitate a compensation claim.

The family of a woman who was in a nursing home because of her dementia is seeking compensation after she suffered burns while under its staff’s care.
Violet Smith, 87, was put onto a commode filled with hot water at the Charlton Centre in Batley on January 6, 2008.
However, she suffered four per cent burns and had to have skin grafts. Ms Smith died just over a month later and although the coroner’s verdict revealed natural causes, the family says it is to sue the nursing home for negligence.
"What my mother went through in the lead up to her death was horrific. She screamed the place down in agony every time her dressing was changed," said her son, Rodney Smith.
He added that he hopes the system at the home has changed so that nobody else will suffer in the same way.
According to the Alzheimer’s Society, there are over 100 types of dementia. The symptoms include loss of memory, confusion and problems with speech and understanding.

The parents of a teenager who died in hospital after being given drugs that were later described as inappropriate have been awarded damages by an NHS trust.
Alexander Newton, 18, had Duchenne muscular dystrophy and was being treated at the Royal United Hospital in Bath in 2005.
However, he was given the strong painkiller cocodamol and the sleeping drug Zopiclone and went on to suffer hallucinations and three respiratory arrests.
Alexander died after 16 days in hospital.
His parents Barrie Newton, 60, and Pamela, 58, took legal action against the Royal United Hospital Bath NHS Trust for clinical negligence after a coroner ruled that the drugs "took their toll" on their son’s health, although they did not kill him directly.
Although the NHS trust did not admit liability, it has agreed to a "considered sum of money" to compensate for the distress caused to Alexander before his death.
Zopiclone is a hypnotic sleeping drug and a side effect listed by RDS Alert is palpitations in some patients.

Two parents from Stockport are seeking compensation from the NHS after their baby died during a failed breech birth.
Kate Share, 29, was not diagnosed with a breech birth until she was in the birthing pool and staff at Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport decided to take a ‘hands-off’ approach, the Manchester Evening News reports.
Obstetrician Dr Amit Majumdar told a midwife who tried to deliver the baby’s head to stop and wait.
Baby Alfie died from suffocation on the resuscitation table 23 minutes after he was born.
Ms Share and her partner Richard Leeming have launched legal action against Stockport NHS Trust for negligence after a coroner ruled that staff should have acted sooner.
"We want to ensure that lessons are learnt and that no other parents have to endure the pain we have had to go through," said Mr Leeming.
According to BabyCentre.co.uk, only around 0.4 per cent of all breech births now occur naturally in England, with most staff advising a Caesarean section.
