Payout for woman hit by football at concert

A woman who got whiplash after being struck on the head by a football at a Rod Stewart concert has been awarded compensation.

Stewart has a tradition of kicking autographed footballs into the audience during his live shows, but this went wrong in Dublin in 2005.

The ball flew into the crowd and struck Sally Price straight on the head with such force that it caused whiplash.

She had to be taken to hospital and claims that she felt dazed for some time afterwards.

Ms Price accepted Stewart’s apology and personal visit in hospital, but decided to take legal action against the show’s promoters for allowing the potentially dangerous act in the first place.

She has now been awarded £12,800 in compensation as a result of her injuries.

Back in November 2008, a woman who was working in security at a concert venue took legal action against Bon Jovi, alleging that one of the band’s entourage deliberately drove over her leg with a golf buggy when she refused him entry to a VIP area.

Man takes ex-girlfriend to high court after accident

A man has taken his ex-girlfriend to the high court in a bid to claim compensation from her.

Luke Jones, now 25, was travelling in a golf buggy being driven by Amber Mounty while on holiday in 2006, the South Wales Argus reports.

However, she lost control and Mr Jones’ leg was crushed under the vehicle.

He had to have his leg amputated and also suffered problems with his liver and an MRSA infection while at hospital.

Mr Jones has now taken the case further as, although Ms Mounty’s insurance company has admitted liability, the two sides are unable to agree upon the amount of compensation that should be paid.

He claims he will be unable to get an equivalent job to that he had before the accident and that he still suffers psychological problems.

Anyone injured in such an accident should seek legal advice as they could be eligible for compensation if it can be proved that another party was responsible for the incident.

Woman launches legal action against Bon Jovi

A woman has begun legal proceedings against the band Bon Jovi amid allegations that a member of its entourage caused her a serious injury.

Sally Allen, who was working as a security supervisor at the Milton Keynes National Bowl arena when the alleged incident occurred, claims that she refused entry of the venue’s VIP area to Kevin McDonnell before a concert in 2006.

She maintains that he shouted obscenities at her before deliberately driving a golf buggy over her right leg.

The 37-year-old states she had to spend a week in hospital as a result of her injuries and that she suffered depression following the incident, which left her unable to return to work "for the foreseeable future".

Ms Allen is now suing all four members of Bon Jovi – Jon Bon Jovi, David Bryan, Richie Sambora and Tico Torres – and their companies for trespass to the person and negligence and is claiming £250,000 in compensation.

The band declined to comment on the case while it goes through the appropriate legal channels.

Bon Jovi was formed in 1983 and has had a string of hits, including Livin’ on a Prayer, I’ll be There for You and Bad Medicine.
