A woman who was injured in a fall during a shopping trip is considering taking legal action against the highways agency she claims should have taken better care of the footpath.
Sue Cross, 54, fell in Gloucester’s Market Parade, hurting both of her knees, reports the Gloucestershire Echo.
She claims to still be in severe pain and says she finds it difficult to kneel down following the injury.
"I spoke to a solicitor who thought I had a good chance of being able to claim. I’m just worried about the effect this may have on my movement when I’m older," she commented.
Gloucestershire Highways manager Nick Peters said the organisation has no record as yet of a claim being made by Ms Cross.
According to the BBC’s Inside Out programme, 20 councils have paid out £1 million in damages over the last two years as a result of injuries and damage allegedly caused by potholes.
